The McGaniel family has owned the brewery since 1842. Robert McGaniel started brewing in his barn and soon found enthusiasm within the local community. It is now a company with 1,400 employees, a turnover of 790 million euros per year and sales in more than 20 countries.
The brewery is still fully owned by the McGaniel family. Despite the fact that the company is "corporate" in terms of turnover and market share, the family is characterized by a no-nonsense mentality. Important decisions, including international acquisitions, are traditionally still made at the kitchen table.
History
Robert McGaniel has a passionate passion for brewing the best beer. He is trying to become a favorite in the city and has converted his own garage into a brewery. Day and night, in addition to working on a farm, he is working on his ultimate recipe. His hard work is rewarded by winning first prize at the Waterford Brewery Festival. Robert decides to open the McGaniel Brewery in 1842, in the hamlet of Williams.

The water used to brew the beer is pumped from an ancient deep well.
McGaniel only brews with barley and not corn. Color malt is added to each brew, which gives a better foam formation.
The raw materials for our beers are selected with care. Only the very best quality is good enough. You can taste that immediately. The McGaniel beers are nicely hopped and perfectly balanced. Brew masters look for the perfect balance between bitter and sweet. Our beers are not for the issues of the day, but timeless, characterful and traditional.
The water used to brew the beer is pumped from an ancient deep well. The soft and pure water is suitable for brewing without processing. Only an agreed amount of this water may be pumped up per year. For this reason all labels of the beer bottles are numbered. With a labeling machine, the numbers are applied to the sealing seals using a laser technique.
McGaniel is the only one in Ireland to brew its beers with water from an officially recognized source. This water - which is about 1,000 years old - enters through marl rock. It has undergone a natural purification by sinking through gravel and limestone layers over the centuries to a depth of 152 meters.
